Bistro Set

I've wanted a Bistro Set for years. Something like this one. Years ago, I worked at Target. And there was a really nice set for about $200. Unfortunately, I waited too long. And Target stopped carrying that specific model. I've seen them in various ads. And recently seen a fairly nice on at K-Mart.

But none are like this set. I really like it! But it also has a price tag of almost $600. Something that is way out of my price point. I really wish I could afford this. It would be perfect in my back porch. I would just love to have it there. To sit and enjoy a nice dinner. A mujer can dream. ♥Besitos

Walk the Line

Walk the Line happens to be one of my favorite movies. Yes it is. And Jackson has always been on of my favorite Country songs. Might have something to do with the way I grew up. Reese Witherspoon is also one of my favorite actresses. This is a no brainer.

I really want to watch this movie again. I really need to make time for these sorts of things. But this music just puts me in a good mood. I really feel like singing now. Do you have any movies like that? That just interest you. For all sorts of things. Like the music, the story, the history, etc. ♥Besitos

Crochet Paper Chain

So my best friend is expecting her first baby. And she asked me to be the baby's Nina. I'm over the moon. And trying to plan out a bunch of fun presents. Then I remembered this Crochet Paper Chain. I seen it a while back. I thought it looked like fun. But who would I make it for?

Then the bells stated going off. My best friend's baby. It screams my best friend. Because of all the art projects we ever did, paper chains were her favorite. You have to remember, we have been best friends since kindergarten!

So this is going on my list. I think it will be fun to make. I just hope I have enough time to make everything I want to make. I better start crocheting! ♥Besitos

27

Yes friends, it's that day. When I turn 27. I'm not stressing out about the day. Or my age. Or where I am in life. To me, it's just another day...

I'm at work. In the middle of the labor and delivery floor. Listening to screaming women. It's life. And my family was never big on birthdays. So I never really got into the crazy celebrations for my own birthday. I'm a year older. I'm not sure how much wiser. But a year older.

For the most part, I'm happy with where my life is. Could it be better...yes. But it's a nice life. You have to learn how to take the good with the bad.

My goals for the year...get back into playing with a Mariachi. Full time. Stop being so damn shy and quiet! Work on being happy and enjoying life. Zo keeps telling me that I need a boyfriend to do that. I'm not so sure about that. But it couldn't hurt. Well, if the right guy came around. And I really want to work on making my house a home. It's almost been 9 years. And I still feel like it's not quite home.

I look at birthdays as starting off points. Places to make positive changes. To set goals. And to see where life has taken me thus far. I would love to be a better musician. To become more of a people person. And most of all enjoy my life more. So here is to year #27! I just know, it's going to be a good one. :) ♥Besitos

Consuming Passions

Do you remember when I blogged about Crazy Ladies? It's such a great book! And I've been looking for a good book to read. So I logged on to my Barnes and Noble account. Because I have Michael Lee West saved as a favorite author, this book came up as a recommendation.

I really think that I need to get it. Consuming Passions looks like another good read. And I seriously need something else to read. Besides all these medical books. Sometimes, school just kills my passion to read. But this book just might reignite my reading fire. ♥Besitos

A Sad Day

I don't even know what to say. My heart is breaking. My dear Aunt past away today...

I was planning on coming down here. To my hometown. When my parents called me yesterday and told me how bad she was, I knew I had to come. I wanted to say goodbye. So I talked to Dr. S and let him know. And I was coming today.

My Mom called this morning. As I was preparing to leave. And she told me that my Aunt had died. I didn't know what to say. Or what to think. It wasn't that long ago that I had seen her. She was just 72 years old. It's a sad day for our family.

I still made the trip. And the whole way, I kept hearing this sad songs on the radio. I cried most of the way. Collin Raye's "If You Get There Before I Do" kept coming on. And I just kept thinking about my Uncle. And the song, "Temporary Home," by Carrie Underwood just brought me to tears.

By the time I got to my Uncle's house, I was so emotional. And seeing him, just made me want to cry. he was so lost! They had been married over 50 years! It makes me wonder what the next few days are going to bring. I just wish that my Uncle could have some peace. I know it's going to be really hard for him. ♥Besitos

Cheerleading

Last month, I posted about being a cheerleader. I got a ton and a half of e-mails about it. Unfortunately, I can't find any of the pictures. I have a feeling they're at my parents house. I did find a VHS of us at our State Competition. And I found my uniforms. But no pictures.

So here are a few things that we used to do. Because lots of you are curious. Let me start off with saying, we had a Texas coach. She had been a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. And she was as mean as nails. Now, I respect that. Then, I used to just pray for practice to end...

That's a toe touch. We'd do countless in a day. We'd practice them all the time. And we'd continue to practice until they were perfect. She'd stretch us out, just so our toe touches would be perfect. There were days that I could barely walk because of that. But it's what came with the territory. And at games, every time our team scored, we had to do a toe touch. They had to be perfect!

Right there, that's a heel stretch. You grab your foot in the middle, from the outside. And then you pull up your leg. Your leg is at your side, slightly in front of your body. Your knee is facing up and back. Again, lots of stretching goes into this.

This is a scale. Ideally, you're supposed to make a "U" or "V" shape with you right arm and left leg. Your bottom (right) leg is pointed to the right, your upper body to the front, and your left leg us up. Knee pointed forward. Again, ideally, your leg just stays up. You don't use your arm for support. Just balance.

The next move is a bow and arrow. This is like a more advanced heel stretch. Instead of your knee pointed up and back, it is now pointed towards your body. And you hold it with the opposite hand. Again, ideally, you want your leg and body to be parallel.

And last but not least, this is a scorpion. Ideally, the knee shouldn't be bent. You should be holding on with 1 hand. And your body should make a "tear drop" shape. This takes lots of back flexibility.

These are just some of the moves we'd do. We did lots of things. Like basket tosses. Were you would through a girl up in the air, and she'd do a trick. Like a toe touch and a twist. And you'd catch her on the way down. We did many, many cheers, dances, and even tumbling. Like in gymnastics.

In lots of ways, these were the best and worst years of my life. But I wouldn't give them up for anything! I learned many life long lessons. And will have some of the most amazing friends for life! Because you don't go to camp in the desert (where I now live) and sweat off your behind, without becoming friends. Let's not even talk about cheer in a blizzard, in the City Different. It was so cold!

It was more than just pep rallies, football games, and competitions. We really did become close. We learned many life lessons. And traveled a lot! From the City Different to Orlando. And everywhere in between. There's a heck of a lot more to a cheerleader than the short skirts and pom poms! ♥Besitos

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara

I don't know if you know this, but Max Factor is no longer being sold in the US. This hurts my heart. Because Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara is my all time favorite mascara! I stocked up when I heard the news. I bought every tube of my favorite mascara that I could find. All the black, waterproof tubes. What in the world am I going to do when I run out? I might have to start makeup swapping. Now to find someone in the UK that wants to swap with me. ♥Besitos

Happy Birthday!

Today is my oldest, and dearest friend's birthday. She 27. And we've known each other since we were 5. It's been a while since we chatted. But I never forget her birthday. I sent her a quick e-mail early this morning. Just sending her good wishes. I wish we didn't live so far away. I miss our silly girl talk. And all the crazy things we did together. Let's just say, we learned a lot together!

She is the kind of friend that somehow becomes family. You don't see it happening. It just does. And then, one day, you're inseparable! You do everything together. But with age, comes life lessons that we all learn. And my best friend was moved across the country.

I still miss those days. The ones when we'd sit and chat about everything and nothing at all. We just knew what the other was thinking. We'd sit and eat chicken nuggets and talk about boys. We were a pretty hilarious pair. I just hope she has the best birthday ever! ♥Besitos

Crazy Ladies

This is one of my favorite books ever! I don't know why, but the main character, she reminds me of mi Abuelita. But this is just a good read. Something to take your mind off of life. And all of your troubles.

I got a lot of good laughs from this book. I think I first read it about 5 years ago. And ever since, I've given lots of copies to my friends. All of who love this book too! It's just that great! And I'm so happy to have it. :)

Michael Lee West is a great author. He paints such great pictures with his words. I just can't help but love this book. And all the characters. All of which are complicated in their own ways. But it all ties back to family. If you're looking for a good book, I'd recommend this one! ♥Besitos
